Another year, another English-language remake of a foreign horror movie.  According to Empire, Mark Pellington is set to direct the retelling of Guillermo del Toro's Spanish-language ORPHANAGE.

Pellington, who got his start directing music videos such as Pearl Jam's "Jeremy," graduated to making offbeat thrillers such as ARLINGTON ROAD and THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES.  Pellington is a stylist with a knack for offsetting visuals and pacing that may benefit the remake.  Couple this with Empire's claim that del Toro, a master storyteller, will be co-writing the English version, and this film should have some real potential.
