Edward Woodward of WICKER MAN Dies at 79
Share on FacebookSadly, The Guardian today reported that Edward Woodward has died at 79. Woodward is perhaps best known for his role as Robert McCall in the popular CBS series THE EQUALIZER. But horror fans will likely remember him for his role in one of horror's most offbeat films, THE WICKER MAN, in which his straitlaced police inspector Robbie travels to a small island to solve the mystery of a missing girl. He finds more than he expects in the presence of Lord Summerisle, an outlandish performance by Christopher Lee.
A victim of poor health and several heart attacks in his later years, Woodward nonetheless appeared in SHAUN OF THE DEAD director Edgar Wright's police spoof HOT FUZZ. He succumbed today to pneumonia.
