With the first TWILIGHT sequel NEW MOON set to start shooting next month, Summit Entertainment is already claiming stake on June 30th, 2010 as the release date for the 2nd follow-up ECLIPSE. The third TWILIGHT film will be the first to open in the normally busy summer season. No word yet on who will helm the 2nd sequel. MTV just debuted the teaser logo for NEW MOON, which you can see in our previous news post HERE!

Here's Summit's synopsis for THE TWILIGHT SAGA - ECLIPSE: As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob—knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

The release date for NEW MOON is currently set for November 20th, 2009! Check out details for the TWILIGHT ULTIMATE EDITION BOXED SET out on May 5th right HERE!

Based on the hit novel series by Stephenie Meyer, TWILIGHT was directed by Catherine Hardwicke and stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Nikki Reed, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Edi Gathegi, Rachelle Lefevre, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke, Cam Cigandet, Kellan Lutz, Anna Kendrick and Taylor Lautner. Chris Weitz will direct the sequel NEW MOON.

    Comments

Are any of the other Twilight fans a little concerned by this news? It appears that Summit isnt going to be putting much time into these movies. As it is, New Moon is being released in 8 months, when it hasnt even begun filming, and now Eclipse will be out just a few months after that? Although I'm glad they are going to make these movies, I have major concerns about the quality of these films.
