With THE TWILIGHT SAGA 'NEW MOON' set to begin shooting next month, and a release date locked on ECLIPSE for June 30th, 2010, Summit Entertainment is apparently looking at potential director's to pick up where Chris Weitz leaves off. Could Drew Barrymore be that director? Entertainment Weekly is speculating that the actress turned director is one of the few on the short list to helm TWILIGHT's second sequel. Not too surprising since Barrymore just wrapped up her directorial debut Whip It! starring Ellen Page.



Here's Summit's synopsis for THE TWILIGHT SAGA - ECLIPSE: As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob—knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

Chris Weitz will direct the sequel NEW MOON.
