New Special Editions Of FRIDAY THE 13TH 4-6 Coming Soon?

On February 3rd, 2009, Paramount plans on releasing new "Deluxe" special editions of the first 3 FRIDAY THE 13TH films, FRIDAY THE 13TH, FRIDAY THE 13TH PART II & FRIDAY THE 13TH PART III 3-D just in time to coincide with the release of Platinum Dunes new take on Jason Voorhees. (Full details on those discs HERE!) But are they stopping at 3?

Rumor has it that Paramount started recording commentary tracks in preparation for "Deluxe Editions" of FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE FINAL CHAPTER, FRIDAY THE 13TH: A NEW BEGINNING and JASON LIVES: FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VI for release sometime later in the year. Filmmaker Adam Green (HATCHET, SPIRAL, the upcoming FROZEN) mentioned in his My Space blog that he recorded a commentary track with Joe Lynch (WRONG TURN 2) for the FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 4 disc. This at least confirms that something is definitely in the works for the remainder of the FRIDAY THE 13TH series. (And quite frankly, it's about time!)

We'll bring you more details as we hear 'em! Check out the DVD covers and feature listings for the first 3 films at our previous news post HERE!

HDNet Movies (I think that's the name) ran parts 1-8 in HD this weekend, so it looks like HD transfers are out there at least. Hopefully, we'll see them on blu-ray sometime soon!

Cool...but what about Blu-ray releases of II and III to go with the first one?!?!? Especially since III will be in 3D on DVD! Doesn't seem to make sense not to release all of them on BD. I'll buy the first one, but I'm not going to be double-dipped by Paramount!

    Oh god I just got a cinema-boner!
