DEXTER SEASON TWO, Official DVD Release Date Announced! Keith Gordon Helming SEASON 3 Debut!

We had posted a news story about this several months ago, but now thankfully Paramount Home Entertainment has finally confirmed it! The hit series DEXTER: SEASON TWO will be released on DVD on August 19th, 2008, just in time for the premiere of SEASON THREE on Showtime. We've also heard that recent Icons interviewee KEITH GORDON will be directing the first episode of SEASON THREE. Gordon helmed several episodes of DEXTER previously, so his return doesn't come as a surprise. You can read our FRIGHT exclusive interview with KEITH GORDON (where we spoke extensively about his work on DEXTER) by clicking HERE or on the frame below. No DVD cover image or special features announced yet for the boxed set, but it's definitely coming on August 19th. We'll keep you posted on more when we hear it!

THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR Teaser Poster!

I'll admit... I'm not that big a fan of the two Brendan Fraser MUMMY movies. I'll stick with the Indy movies. But... I'm curious by this sequel mainly because of Jet Li's involvement. And I figured a slew of you would really appreciate checking out this cool new teaser poster for THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR. (featuring Li's face!) Check it out below! Directed by Rob Cohen, the third MUMMY film stars Brendan Fraser, Maria Bello, Jet Li, Luke Ford and Michelle Yeoh and hits theaters on August 1st, 2008!

Next BOOKS OF BLOOD Film From CLIVE BARKER? ... DREAD!

Things were so hectic at this past weekend's LA FANGO show, that sadly I missed Clive Barker's panel. However, SHOCK caught it, and the big scoop of the panel was the announcement of the next BOOKS OF BLOOD adaptation making it's way to the big screen. Anthony DiBlasi is writing and directing DREAD based on Barker's short story. The flick is currently casting and looking to shoot by June. Barker's Seraphim Films is producing DREAD. According to SHOCK, "Eclipse adapted Barker's story for the comic book medium in the '90s with writer Steve Niles and artist Dan Brereton." As for the synopsis? "In the story, Quaid, a student of philosophy, is obsessed by his own nightmare of an ax-murdering clown so he concocts a series of experiments to observe firsthand how other people react to the things that most horrify them. But while Quaid slowly unpeels the psyches of his imprisoned and tortured captives like a reeking onion, his own dread waits, just beyond his control." With MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN right around the corner, and DiBlasi at the helm for this new flick, count us excited for DREAD!

New PUMPKINHEAD: SPECIAL EDITION DVD On The Way?

SHOCK's Ryan Rotten caught up with Michael Felsher (who's produced the supplemental material on several horror DVD releases) at this past weekend's LA FANGO show. Felsher is currently working with MGM to bring us a new and improved DVD edition of Stan Winston's directorial debut PUMPKINHEAD. Felsher told SHOCK that he's hard at work on new interviews with PUMPKINHEAD actors Lance Henriksen and Brian Bremer (who plays Bunt), as well as Tom Woodruff (who played PUMPKINHEAD) and Alec Gillis over at Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc. (both protégés of Stan Winston). The DVD release is still a ways off from a set date, but it's definitely coming and we'll keep you posted on when!

First Look At MASTERS OF HORROR SEASON TWO "SKULL" Boxed Set!

At this past weekend's LA FANGO show, the Anchor Bay Entertainment table debuted quite a cool little item. For display was the new MASTERS OF HORROR SEASON TWO boxed set, which will feature all 13 episodes of the Showtime series. (And include all of the existing discs special features.) While last year's set came in the amazing mausoleum box (I still stare at it on my counter), the new boxed set will house all 13 episodes inside a human skull! Of course, I didn't have my camera handy at the con, but thankfully Ryan Rotten over at Shock Till You Drop did! So below is one of his pics of the new boxed set. Click on the photo or HERE for another look! (Thanks Ryan!)

Tony Todd NOT In FINAL DESTINATION 4?

At last weekend's LA FANGORIA WEEKEND OF HORRORS show, actor Tony Todd (most famous to genre fans as CANDYMAN) confirmed that he's not returning as Mr. William Bludworth (aka "Death") in FINAL DESTINATION 4. (Which is currently lensing.) Todd's character appeared in both the first and second FINAL DESTINATION films, and he made a cameo appearance, ala a voiceover in the 3rd, but it looks like we won't get to see Todd in this new 3D outing. The new film brings back the team behind FINAL DESTINATION 2, including director David Ellis. (SNAKE ON A PLANE) No word on the release date yet but we'll keep you posted!

Update from director TIM SULLIVAN Regarding ROBERT "COUNT YORGA" QUARRY

Robert Quarry and Tim SullivanDirector Tim Sullivan got back in touch with us to let us know the great effort that all the fans have put forth to help get retired actor Robert "COUNT YORGA" Quarry back on his feet after an encounter with an lecherous fan. Read inside to get the good word from the Sullivan, the horror director with so much heart he's probably got 3 more in the fridge.

Yesterday I paid a visit to Robert Quarry to deliver all the goodies you guys have sent for his new Crypt. It was an amazing day, made even more so by the presence of none other than Hucklebilly himself, Ryan Fleming, and my tremendously kind and talented colleague, Joe Moe (producer and co-writer of RED VELVET which wowed everybody this past weekend at the Fango con). Joe wrote an amazing update to TEAM QUARRY this morning, so I figured I would “hand the microphone over” and let him take it from here. Bleeding Love………. Tim

 Hey, gang!

A spectacular Sunday at Bob's! I left the RED VELVET booth at the Fangoria Con early to meet Tim Sullivan and Ryan Fleming (who plays Hucklebilly in Tim’s 2001 MANIACS) at the Motion Picture Home. When I got there at 3PM , the guys had already stacked heaps of presents all over the room. Tim had taken the time to wrap each and every gift that wasn't already wrapped. It literally looked like Christmas in April with all the dozens and dozens of boxes big and small(many of which were CDs and DVDs from the movie studios and other loving and generous individuals).

Bob was ecstatic to see all the stuff. Tim had gone beyond the call of duty and put a copy of every single e-mail note he'd received from all of Bob’s fans and contributors into bright, colorful envelopes which he attached to each present. In addition to printing out these emails, Tim somehow found photos on My Space of everyone who wrote them so that Bob could associate the gift giver with the gift. (He also compiled a separate bound booklet of all these letters to remind Bob just how loved he is.)

Bob opened letters and cards and was baffled whenever money fell out - as it often did. Some of the notes were read aloud and I got choked up hearing them on more than one occasion. Ryan passed each gift to Bob and Tim acted thrilled and surprised every time one was opened (even though he'd wrapped all of them)

My job was assembling items that needed to be constructed (a gorgeous sofa, an entertainment center,CD/DVD tower). I had brand new 8X10 photos printed and Bob really loved them! I was touched when he took one with him to dinner to show it off. I knew then that he really did approve and would be happy to sign them and send them out as THANK YOU’s to everyone kind enough to contribute. Bob was so excited and energetic, but eventually his legs began to hurt, so for the rest of our visit we made him lie down and tell us where to put items and how to arrange things.

We straightened up and arranged furniture as best we could on this one visit, promising to return and bring more and do more later in the week. We left at around 8PM feeling very accomplished and proud of everyone in our amazing community of caring folk. I took pictures of the event which Tim uploaded to his site.

CLICK HERE TO VIEW ROBERT QUARRY PHOTO ALBUM

As much as Bob has received, because he is literally starting from scratch, there are still several very crucial items that he requires. The registries are still up, so continue to give to the Count! We’ve all moved houses. It’s the most stressful time for anyone. And a vulnerable time for dear Bob. This outpouring of love really sustains him. I know we’ll have that little room looking like a palace in no time, thanks to all f you!

CLICK HERE TO SHOP AT AMAZON FOR COUNT YORGA

Per Bob’s direct request, he asked that his home address NOT be given out, and that all fan mail correspondence be sent to the following address:

ROBERT QUARRY C/O NEW REBELLION ENTERTAINMENT
1366 _ RIVIERA AVENUE
VENICE, CA 90291

Once Bob is rested, we plan to have him sign one of his new photos for each and every one of you who has contributed even a penny. He WILL get back to everyone.Tim and I will take this task upon ourselves and at our own expense to express our personal gratitude for your support and trust in this effort to keep Bob healthy and happy. We feel so lucky to be part of a family that takes such good care of their own.

Meanwhile, anyone who would like to purchase a photo signed by Bob should simply make out a check for $22.50 (postage included) to ROBERT QUARRY, and mail it to the above address as well. All proceeds naturally go directly to Bob.

Finally, get out the word that Bob has directed Tim to be his official spokesperson for the immediate future. That simply means that, if anyone is making claims or proclamations on behalf of Bob, we can all turn to Tim and know that he is will give you the real word or set the record straight per Bob’s implicit instruction.

Mahalo (thanks) to all of you for your Kokua (help). Aloha (big sloppy kiss, 1960’s style)! I only wish you could have been their to experience, first hand, the incredible impact you’ve had on Robert Quarry’s life. Joe Moe Photobucket

First Reviews of GHOSTBUSTERS Game Coming In

Yea, we don't do too much reporting on video games, but I can't resist linking to this review over at Joystiqs. This almost, almost makes we want to buy a 360, because if there's two things I wanted to be when I was a kid it was a Friday the 13th camp counselor and a Ghostbuster. (And we all remember how much the "Friday the 13th" Nintendo game blew. Ok, yes, I realize that was 20 years ago. I'm still bitter, damn it!)

Who you gonna call?

From their review: "The Ghostbusters animation, graphics, settings, and physics look great. The original cast has reassembled to record for this game. It's even being written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. But the biggest thing I didn't see was that story, and that narrative is an important part of Ghostbusters. We'll find out how well the script and setting hold up with its October, 2008 release."

Check this link here to Joystiqs for the full review, to find out if bustin' makes them feel good, and more screenshots. The game will be available in October for 360, Wii, and PS3.

Lashaway will play a bully, Magaro will play Thierot's comic sidekick, and Olszynski will play a popular beauty among the small-town characters. Solet (who's short with Jake Hamilton MEANS TO AN END was featured on the BLOOD DRIVE 2 DVD) is writing and directing with Jordon Ladd (GRINDHOUSE, CABIN FEVER) set to play the lead Madeline. The article states GRACE is a "psychological horror film that follows a woman who discovers her "unborn" child has come back to life." The article neglects to mention that the baby dies in utero and Madeline carries the dead infant to term, only to realize that something is terrible wrong with newborn Grace upon her birth. Leomax's Ingo Vollkammer, Ariescope Pictures' Cory Neal and Adam Green (HATCHET, SPIRAL) and Dark Eye Entertainment's Kevin DeWalt are producing. Check out our interview with Paul Solet below, as well as the original short film and making-of for GRACE!

An ICONS OF FRIGHT, Robert "COUNT YORGA" Quarry Needs Our Help!

Hey FRIGHT fans. We received this heartfelt plea from director Tim Sullivan regarding a desperate situation involving the victimization of actor Robert Quarry by a lecherous fan. Robert Quarry played Count Yorga and appeared in countless Hammer Films. He is a TRUE Icons Of Fright! Please read Mister Sullivan's message to the fans and help out in any way possible. Meaning if you can donate, donate. And if you can repost, repost. Every little bit helps.

"Anyone who knows me at all knows what a HUGE fan I am of Count Yorga, or rather the fine actor and true gentleman who created the role, Mr. Robert Quarry.

Fellow fans of my generation can relate to the early 70's when American International gave us a new vampire to rival Christopher Lee, and for my money, the two films in which Quarry starred, COUNT YORGA VAMPIRE and RETURN OF COUNT YORGA, not only rival, but surpass nearly all of the Lee Dracula films.

Several years ago, I had the honor to meet and interview Robert for my Shock & Roll column at Upcoming Horror Movies. (If you missed it or would like to revisit, CLICK HERE TO READ MY INTERVIEW WITH ROBERT QUARRY NOW)

After reading the piece, Frank Darabont, he himself a mega Yorga fan, got in touch with me and offered to have new prints struck of both Yorga films, which lead to Frank and I co-hosting a special YORGA double feature at the American Cinematheque. It was an amazing night for all, especially Robert, visibly moved by the large turnout and fan outpouring.

Since then, Robert's health has been up and down, and this past week, after 38 years of independence, Robert moved into the Motion Picture Country House, a community home for senior actors and actresses run by the Motion Picture Fund. It's a lovely place, with a wonderful staff, and an exceptional group of some of the greatest talents both behind and in front of the camera.

I thank God that a place like the Actor's Home exists, and I thank God that Bob is now a resident. For much to my horror and disgust, Bob, the regal Count Yorga, has spent the last few years victim of an evil that I wish I could say was uncommon, but sadly, it is not.

I refer to the VULTURE. The LEECH. The lonely, miserable "never was" who starts off as a fan, gets close to the aging celebrity, then, thru manipulation and bullying, makes the celebrity feel as if they would be helpless without them. Much like a battered wife or child, the celebrity feels afraid to speak up; fearful that this vulture is their only way to get to the doctor, the store etc… Often, the Vulture gains access to the celebrity's bank account, passing themselves off as an "assistant" or "manager". We are not talking about gold digging, but nickel and dime digging- stealing the dollars and postage stamps that fans send to have their items autographed and returned; taking valuable memorabilia under the guise of selling it on e-bay for the celebrity only to lie about the profits and horde them for themselves; or worse, actually charging the helpless celebrity for their time, their rides to the doctor; their assistance in moving. This devil, this leech, does its best to put a wedge between the celebrity and his or her true friends, doing their best to keep the lid on their crimes.

This past weekend, in the case of Robert, the lid was taken off, and Robert now has full access and full awareness of his true friends. And there are legion.

So yes, there is a happy ending to this story. The stake has been plunged thru the cold and soulless heart of the vulture in Robert's life. He is happy and thriving at the home.
If you are a fan of Robert's, a fan of mine, or a horror fan in general, put your money where your mouth is, walk the talk and take a moment to help out one of our own.

Write a letter to Robert letting him know how much you loved him in the Yorga films, or DR. PHIBES RISES AGAIN, DEATHMASTER or MADHOUSE.

All fan mail can be sent to

ROBERT QUARRY
C/O NEW REBELLION ENTERTAINMENT
1366 ½ RIVIERA AVENUE
VENICE, CA 90291

Want an autograph? Go ahead and ask for it—But while you're asking, please give as well. Cuz sad to say, that vulture left very little for Robert to bring to his new digs- and so he's starting from scratch. Not exactly a fun thing to be doing at age 82, but if every horror fan gave just a little, that Crypt would be fully stacked in no time.

Gifts can be sent to Robert at the above address, or we've set up two CRYPT WARMING registries for Bob- One at Target, one at Amazon. Take your pick! Just click on the sites and go shopping for Uncle Bob- Make sure you send a note so he knows who sent what and can send a thank you.

CLICK HERE TO SHOP AT AMAZON FOR COUNT YORGA

Us horror folk know what it's like to be an outsider and alone, and I'll be DAMNED if someone like Robert Quarry should ever feel anything but loved and appreciated.

Sadly, Robert's story is not unique. There are many Leeches and Vultures out there preying on our senior brothers and sisters. If you know of any- step in and stop it.

Blood and Blessings to you All—

Tim Sullivan"

Judd Nelson? Shawnee Smith? Part of THE GRUDGE 3 Cast!

Bloody Disgusting is reporting that they got a tip to the cast of the straight-to-DVD sequel THE GRUDGE 3. And I must say, it's a rather interesting cast. According to the site, the cast includes Judd Nelson, William Devane, Jo Braddy, Matthew Knight, Shawnee Smith, Beau Mirchoff and Johanna E. Braddy. In THE GRUDGE 3, "a young Japanese woman holds a secret to ending the curse of the Grudge. QUARANTINE Trailer! First Look at The American Remake Of [REC]!

Bloody-DisgustingTV has posted the first theatrical trailer to QUARANTINE, starring DEXTER's Jennifer Carpenter, HOSTEL's Jay Hernandez and Johnathon Schaech. The film was directed by John Erick Dowdle (THE POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES). It's actually a remake of the Spanish horror flick [REC]. You can check out the trailers to both QUARANTINE and [REC] below, along with the film's official synopsis. QUARANTINE opens October 17th, 2008 in theaters.

Synopsis: Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew's videotape.

Check out the trailer to the original Spanish film to which QUARANTINE is a remake of, [REC]:

STEPFATHER Remake Release Date!

Love it or hate it, no film is safe from Hollywood's constantly remaking claws, including the cult classic THE STEPFATHER, the original which featured LOST's Terry O'Quinn in the title role. The update is currently in production with director Nelson McCormick (he just remade the new PROM NIGHT) from a script by Joe Cardone. The only upside to this sure-to-be PG-13 flick is the decent cast. Dylan Walsh of NIP/TUCK plays the title role in the remake, and is joined by Sela Ward, Penn Badley, Amber Heard, Paige Turco, Braeden LeMasters, Skyler Samuels and Jon Tenney. THE STEPFATHER will hit theaters on October 16, 2009, so we have a whiles to go on this one.

Why don't we take a look at the original trailers for both THE STEPFATHER and (the underrated Jeff Burr sequel) THE STEPFATHER 2? Check 'em below!

UWE BOLL Strikes Back At On-Line Petition?!

A few days ago, an on-line petition appeared on the internet with the simple goal of reaching one million signatures so that filmmaker Uwe Boll would stop making movies. From what I understand, I believe Uwe admitted he'd quit if one million people told him to. Well, today, the good Dr. Boll has taken a swing back (and not in the boxing ring this time!) with his own on-line video message to fans and haters alike! Publicity stunt for POSTAL? Or pure genius at work! You decide! (And by the way, while most of his movies may not be all that good, POSTAL is in fact rather hilarious in a Troma-kinda way.)

Check out our interview with UWE BOLL from 2006! Just click the frame!

And our FIRST LOOK review of POSTAL:

SEAN PATRICK FLANERY Joins BUMP!

We just reported that Ashley Laurence and Tobin Bell were part of the cast for BUMP, the latest flick by Robert Kurtzman based on the comic book. Now, Dread Central just scored some more casting news... Sean Patrick Flanery! I already love the BUMP comic book, so I'm beyond excited for the flick, but THE BOONDOCK SAINTS is one of my all-time favorites, so the casting of Flanery has me at a fever pitch! Flanery also played Greg Stillson on THE DEAD ZONE TV series based on the Stephen King novel with Anthony Michael Hall. More on BUMP as we hear it!
Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery in THE BOONDOCK SAINTS:

THE HILLS RUN RED A Go At Warner Brothers! Dave Parker Directing!

Last year, filmmaker Dave Parker shot a kick-ass teaser trailer for a project titled THE HILLS RUN RED. Now, SHOCK is reporting that Warner Brothers is moving forward with the feature length and shooting is set to begin in the next few weeks. David J. Schow (THE CROW) is attached as the screenwriter and casting is underway. Hopefully that teaser will make it's way on-line so you can see why we're so excited about this one! In the meantime, check out our extensive FRIGHT exclusive interview with Dave Parker from last summer where he gave us the first word on THE HILLS RUN RED. (Click the frame below!)

Rogue Moving Forward On HACK/SLASH! Based On The Comic Series!

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Justin Marks has been tapped to write the screenplay for Rogue Pictures adaptation of HACK/SLASH! Todd Lincoln is already on board to direct, with Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter producing. The article explains, ""Hack/Slash," created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, centers on Cassie Hack, a woman who travels to small towns across the country hunting slashers in the vein of "Halloween's" Michael Myers, "Friday the 13th's" Jason Voorhees and "A Nightmare on Elm Street's" Freddy Krueger. She is partnered on her journey with Vlad, a hulking companion who serves as her protector. Lincoln wrote the initial draft with Martin Schenk. Ben Magid also worked on the script. Howard Sun is co-producing.

Robert Kurtzman's BUMP With Ashley Laurence & Tobin Bell!

Robert Kurtzman (the K in KNB) is set to direct BUMP, based on the short lived comic book series of the same name from FANGORIA COMICS. As an avid reader of comic books, I genuinely thought BUMP was one of the best horror comics I'd read in ages, and I'm thrilled at the prospect of seeing a full-on movie adaptation, especially with Kurtzman at the helm. Producer Scott Licina announced that HELLRAISER vet (and all-around natural beauty) Ashley Laurence has joined the cast as Elaine. Tobin Bell (JIGSAW himself!) also stars and produces! According to B-D, "The film is a supernatural tale of extreme horror, where even the confines of the grave aren't able to contain the brutal spirit of serial killer Edgar Dill, and his legion of monstrous Treehuggers." Dread Central also says you can download all 4 issues of the comic series at the Wowio website! Check it out! It gets my highest recommendation!

LARRY FESSENDEN Joins FEAR ITSELF!

John Carpenter has bowed out of his upcoming episode of NBC's FEAR ITSELF. He was originally set to direct an episode titled Skin & Bones, written by Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan, who collaborated on both of Carpenter's MASTERS OF HORROR entries. (CIGARETTE BURNS and PRO LIFE) Well, good news is, the highly underrated filmmaker Larry Fessenden will now direct Skin & Bones for FEAR ITSELF! Seriously, those of you unfamiliar with Fessenden's work need to go out and buy HABIT (one of my all-time fave vampire movies), WENDIGO and THE LAST WINTER. More details on this report over at SHOCK.
Check out our reprint interview with LARRY FESSENDEN from ARE YOU GOING magazine by clicking the frame below:

Be on the look out for a brand new extensive interview with LARRY FESSENDEN in one of our upcoming editions!

MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN Now Simply... MIDNIGHT TRAIN

Well, first the postponement of Ryuhei Kitamura's highly anticipated movie adaptation of Clive Barker's MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN. Now, a supposed title change. Or should I say simplification. According to SHOCK, at a recent test screening of the Lionsgate flick, the movie opened with a title card that read MIDNIGHT TRAIN. Sadly, I understand the change. Of course, as a HUGE Clive Barker fan, I'm quite familiar with the original story from the BOOKS OF BLOOD. (It's probably one of my all time fave Barker tales.) But I recall seeing the trailer recently at the movies and all my non-Barker friends sitting next to me all starting chuckling aloud at the title. It's hard to explain to your friends why MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN is such a cool title if they've never read any Barker stuff. Sigh. We'll keep you posted on when an official release date is set for MIDNIGHT TRAIN.
Time to reprint all these posters?

Wrtier, Director Attached To TOOLBOX MURDERS 2!

FANGORIA is reporting that makeup FX veteran Dean Jones will be making his directorial debut with TOOLBOX MURDERS 2, the sequel to Tobe Hooper's remake of the original 1978 film of the same name. Jeffrey Reddick, who's penned the screenplays for the recent DAY OF THE DEAD remake, TAMARA and the original FINAL DESTINATION is set to write the script for TOOLBOX 2. Jones drops a few hints about what to expect in the article, "The story will pick up where the first movie left off. We will be bringing back Nell and her husband, plus a few other characters. The story will continue to take place in Hollywood. This time you will see more of the killer, there will be more murders and more of a backstory about where he’s from and how he came to be." Weather Angela Bettis will return in the part of Nell is yet to be determined. Click HERE to read more on TOOLBOX MURDERS 2.

MACHINE GIRL on DVD June 3rd!

Media Blasters provided FANGORIA with the specs on the upcoming DVD release of MACHINE GIRL (which we first reported on HERE), due out June 3rd. The article explains "Written and directed by Noboru Iguchi with makeup FX by Yoshihiro (EXTE) Nishimura, the movie stars Minase Yashiro as a high-school girl whose brother is killed by a gang of bullies under the employ of a ninja yakuza family. When she herself is left minus an arm after an encounter with the baddies, she has her missing limb replaced with a machine and teams up with a chainsaw-wielding woman to seek revenge." Read the specs on FANGO's post. Check out the trailer below, along with a clip from Bloody-Disgusting's site!

New TEETH DVD Art!

Dimension Extreme provided FANGORIA with the new cover to their upcoming DVD release for TEETH, which hits shelves on May 6th. As you can see below, they simply opted to use the theatrical poster and I approve! I've been enjoying the recent slew of titles under the Dimension Extreme banner; STORM WARNING, BLACK SHEEP, INSIDE... but hell, I'll flat out say it, the DVD front covers SUCK! Just use the beautiful theatrical posters! Case in point is below. (Along with TEETH's stats)

TEETH Special Features include:
• Audio commentary by writer/director Lichtenstein
• Deleted scenes with Lichtenstein’s optional commentary
The Making of TEETH featurette

FRIGHT EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW - MICHAEL T. GILBERT - MR. MONSTER!

Hey Fright Fans, Jsyn here with something really special for you all. Like most of us who found the horror genre at an early age, my childhood was shaped by certain iconic influences that left an indelible mark. It started with a fascination with dinosaurs, magic tricks and superheroes. Later, it was all about the local Mom and Pop video store, FANGORIA magazine and a maniacal urge for comic book collecting. I was lucky enough to have a shop in my neighborhood that took care of all three necessities at once, and one comic that I was absolutely bat-shit crazy for was a book called: “Doc Stearn… MR. MONSTER

This comic had everything any red-blooded American adolescent genre fan could ever ask for… gorgeous art, awesome stories, bizarre monsters and a hero armed only with his superior knowledge of all things supernatural and a blazing pair of Colts! Being an independent book (all the rage in the ‘80’s) MR. MONSTER practically burst at the seams with splatterific scenes of sublime carnage, sexy vixens in distress, and pure gonzo slam-bang pulp action, all without the impediment of that pesky Comics Code. There was just no way Doc Stearn could ever exist under a Marvel or DC banner and for the developing rebellious artist in me, that alone made him ten times cooler than he already was.

Here in a rare interview, creator/writer/artist Michael T. Gilbert gives us all the nuts and bolts of his career, shares his thoughts on the early days of independent comics and walks us through the creation of one of the most thoroughly entertaining comic series I will ever read!

I hope that this interview encourages all you Mr. Monster newbie’s out there to discover this gem for yourselves. Read on and learn something, ya mugs!

SUPERMAN (BRANDON ROUTH) & Director Set For DYLAN DOG!

Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that the adaptation of the Italian comic book DYLAN DOG (published here in the States by Dark Horse Comics) has found a director! Kevin Monroe, who directed last year's TMNT all CG movie has officially signed on with Brandon Routh (SUPERMAN RETURNS) on board to star. Ironically enough, Rupert Everett played Francesco Dellamorte, a sort of Italian alter ego for Dylan Dog in Michele Soavi's CEMETERY MAN (aka Dellamorte Dellamore) The original comic book character was actually based on actor Rupert Everett. According to the original article, shooting for DYLAN DOG begins in July.

New DARK CITY Re-Release!

Wow. I remember seeing DARK CITY in theaters multiple times upon it's release in 1998. It's one of my personal favorite films. Now, it looks like we can look forward to a new re-release, complete with additional FX, new score and a different cut! Bloody-Disgusting chatted with screenwriter David Goyer and he confirmed, "It's coming out fairly soon [and will] probably have limited theatrical, but I'm not sure. I have seen almost all of it and I took part in an over hour long making-of." Besides addition FX work, Goyer also revealed, "[They re-did] the score and the cuts a little longer. All of the parties involved did fairly lengthly interviews with us, they'll be included on there." DARK CITY was directed by Alex Proyas (THE CROW) and starred Rufus Sewell, William Hurt, Jennifer Connelly and Kiefer Sutherland. The teaser trailer is probably still one of my all time favorite trailers. (See below!) We'll keep you posted on when this new version will get a re-release!

Amanda Righetti Joins FRIDAY THE 13TH Cast!

DAN FARRANDS Directing FRIDAY THE 13TH Documentary!

Yesterday, we told you about an extensive documentary about the FRIDAY THE 13TH series from producers Anthony Masi and Thommy Hutson. Today, Fangoria is reporting that screenwriter Dan Farrands will be directing the doc! Farrands is no stranger to documentaries as he put together the ones on the bonus disc of THE AMITYVILLE HORROR box set. (They originally aired on The History Channel) Farrands also served as an editor and co-publisher on CRYSTAL LAKE MEMORIES, so it's safe to say the project is in good hands. More details over on Fango's site HERE!
DAN FARRANDS Icons interview still stands up as one of our all time favorites that we've published. Check it out again by clicking the frame below!

No Joke! Danielle Harris, Heather Langenkamp & Ellie Cornell Pulling PRANK!

I'm sure considering the date this sounds like a "prank", but Fangoria broke the scoop that genre vets Danielle Harris (HALLOWEEN 4), Heather Langenkamp (NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET) and Ellie Cornell (HALLOWEEN 4) are each directing a segment of an anthology film called PRANK. (Seriously!) The unique flick is being produced by Anthony Masi and Thommy Hutson, whom are also producing the recently announced FRIDAY THE 13TH documentary. Masi explains, "We came up with the idea of stories revolving around pranks that go terribly wrong. In one story, a group of friends are playing a game where they dial seven-letter names. One girl dials her own name and reaches a guy who decides to turn the tables on her. In the second, a woman is waiting for her boyfriend to come home. Things start happening, paranoia sets in and then the phone rings…" Masi continues, "Sure, it’s a hell of a gimmick and that’s one of PRANK’s big selling points. We’ve got the women from the HALLOWEEN and NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movies directing their first films, and everybody loves these gals.”

What A Crock! ROGUE Gets Limited Release Later This Month!

WOLF CREEK director Greg McLean's long-delayed killer crock movie ROGUE starring foxy Radha Mitchell (SILENT HILL) and Michael Vartan (ALIAS) will finally hit theaters on April 25th. But... it's only opening in 10 markets. (To give you a rough idea what that means, DIARY OF THE DEAD opening in 25 markets across the country. Meaning it'll be impossible to find a theater playing it.) Fangoria broke the scoop on this. Hopefully this means a DVD release can't be too far off. From what we've heard, ROGUE is actually quite good!

WILLIAM MALONE's PARASOMNIA Update!

Director William Malone (HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL) checked in with Fangoria about his latest film PARASOMNIA, which stars (genre fave) Jeffrey Combs and Patrick Kilpatrick. The filmmaker tells FANGO, "PARASOMNIA is a very different kind of film for me. I can’t really explain why, but when you see it, you’ll understand. In many ways, it’s a modern dark fairy tale. Everything in it is slightly skewed from reality—in some cases, a lot more than slightly. Nearly all the characters are ‘off’ in one way or another, which makes for a lot of fun." You can read more from Malone, and see a set pic at THIS link!

C.H.U.D Becomes URBAN DECAY?!

SHOCK is reporting that a script by Ian Malone and Andrew Goring has been making the rounds through various casting agencies under the title of URBAN DECAY. Of note though? The script makes numerous mentions of CHUD's. Cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers!!! Looks like URBAN DECAY is the long rumored remake of 80's cult classic C.H.U.D. (Which actually has just been re-released by Anchor Bay Entertainment with a fancy new "Cult Fiction" cover) God, I miss the sleezy New York represented in 80's horror movies like C.H.U.D. Looking forward to this one!

MR. T VS DRACULA?! THE COMIC?!

I hope this isn't an April Fool's joke! But we just got in a press release from a company called Mohawk Media with the subject header, "MR. T SET FOR COMIC BOOK BATTLES WITH FAMOUS FACES! MR. T CROSSOVERS BEGIN WITH MR. T VERSUS DRACULA!" And low and behold, there's a whole press release about the first graphic novel, a fully functional website with character bios and the front cover image of Mr. T getting ready to do battle with Dracula! Check it all out below!
Official website: http://www.mohawkmedia.co.uk

MR. T SET FOR COMIC BOOK BATTLES WITH FAMOUS FACES!

MR. T CROSSOVERS BEGIN WITH MR. T VERSUS DRACULA!

Any day with a “fool” in it, especially April Fool’s Day, was always going to be a day of dedication to Mr. T, the Mohawk muscleman known for the catchphrase, “I pity the fool!”

Having recently launched their Mr. T: Limited Advance Edition Graphic Novel, publisher Mohawk Media have decided to celebrate April Fool’s Day with the announcement of Mr. T Versus, a series of comic magazines which see Mr. T doing battle with other famous characters.

The first confirmed title is Mr. T Versus Dracula.

Explaining the series, author Christopher Bunting says: ‘When I proposed these crossovers, Mohawk Media jumped at the chance and went to great lengths to make them happen. Who can blame them? Two legends … a living legend and an undead legend … going toe to toe. It doesn’t get much more exciting than that!’

Bunting continues: ‘Kicking – or should that be biting – off the series is Dracula. How is someone as devious as him going to handle someone as straight talking as Mr. T? And as powerful as Dracula is, he’s not met anyone as tough as Mr. T before!’

As Mr. T says in the story: ‘All these suckers with their fancy powers! They need a reality check, and only one guy can do that, and that’s me, Mr. T!’

‘Ain’t no difference if they’re a vampire, a dinosaur, a mutant, if they’re doing wrong, then it needs Mr. T to set things straight with a swift right!’

Although many details of Mr. T Versus are being kept closely guarded, Mohawk Media has offered an exclusive glimpse into the series at: http://www.mohawkmedia.co.uk/mrtversus.htm

The Mr. T: Limited Advance Edition Graphic Novel is available now direct from publisher Mohawk Media at www.mohawkmedia.co.uk for the exclusive price of £15.99 / $39.00 including delivery. Alternatively, from Friday 4 April 2008, it will be available through Amazon and all major online bookstores. It will also be available though bookstores worldwide by quoting its 13-digit ISBN: 9780955680403.
