Green River Killer

Another in the growing line of film’s about real life mass murder’s. The Green River Killer received his name because he would kill women and then drop the bodies by the side of the local river. He killed several women before anyone ever discovered the first body. But like most of these wackos, he was a creature of habit, who kept returning to the same places until people finally got suspicious. A local bartender actually was basically responsible for the capture of Gary Ridgway. She recognized him coming in and realized she had seen him with several of the working girls that ended up dead. Typical story as well, married, job, psychotic episodes of murder. There is nothing in the story that you will find shocking, but it is interesting that director Ulli Lommel apparently had input from Ridgway himself on the story. The film is a decent low budget production, and features a cast of no one. Murder freaks will be all over this as it is an easy watch and will give you most of the moments you crave. The film isn’t overly gory and is very story heavy in the telling, it almost runs like an HBO film. The DVD features an audio commentary with the director and also the trailer as bonus features. This is the kind of film I figure for a rental, although you may enjoy the film, you probably won’t watch it over and over. (Lion’s Gate, 2700 Colorado Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90404) - Myk
