Chocolate: Master of Horror DVD

Anchor Bay has managed to turn a one hour TV film into a four hour DVD. There is so much bonus stuff on here it is incredible. The film stars Henry Thomas (the kid from E.T.) and newcomer Lucie Laurier. Somehow Jamie and Catherine have become psychically linked. Basically, Jamie feels and sees everything that Catherine does, even though they have never met and they live a country apart. The story is called “Chocolate” because that is the first sensation Jamie receives, the taste of chocolate. Through the course of experiencing Catherine’s life, including having sex with her boyfriend, Jamie is convinced he must meet her and profess her love. But be honest, if some stranger walked up to you and told you they could feel your every move and thought, would you believe them? The film also features Matt Frewer who I have loved ever since his days on Max Headroom. Lucies performance is fairly good as well, and you find out in one of the commentaries she is actually a big French-Canadian star and this is her intro to the American market. Bonus features include and interview with Henry. An interview with Lucie, an interview with Mick Garris, plus the “Working With A Master” segment that is on all the dvd’s in this series where they interview the stars about the directors. In addition, there is an audio commentary by Mick, who coincidently is the creator of the “Masters of Horror” series and also an old interview of Mick questioning the great Roger Corman. These dvd’s are stellar and any die hard horror fan will love the effort put into these. ( Anchor Bay, 1699 Stutz Dr, Troy, MI 48084) - Myk
