FRIGHT GIRL OF THE MONTH - MARCH 2008 - VERA VANGUARD!

13 FRIGHT INSIGHTS FROM FRIGHT GIRL OF THE MONTH VERA!

Earliest Horror Memory? Showgirls – Frightening! Just kidding… no I'm not. Actually my dad never let me watch any scary things when I was a kid. In high school I went through the metal/ goth phase and still nothing really scared me. Then I started doing stunts in movies and fell into horror movies. The first really wild film short I did as an "actress" was as a vampire/ doctor/ psychologist/ FBI/ kung fu expert (it was all the same character – she apparently had many skills) and I got so messed up doing all my own stunts on it and slept on bags of ice for three days. That was a horror experience right there!

Scariest Movie You've Ever Seen? Don't know why but White Noise just stayed with me for awhile. Can't wait to see the second one.

Scariest Book? It was at Spencers – you know that gag store in the mall. It had pictures of 500lb women sprawled out naked trying to be sexy. I didn't eat lunch that day.

Which Fright Fiend (Movie Maniac) Can Take You Out To Dinner? I don't think Freddy would disappoint me. He'd probably be great for Thanksgiving dinner too because we wouldn't have to worry about the best way to carve up a turkey. Hannibal can take me out to dinner, I think there would be a lot of good intellectual conversation there. I could tell him about my education in molecular biology and he could tell me about how he loves my eyeballs – literally.

What Rad 80's Horror Chick Would You Like Totally For Sure Be? Hands down Molly Ringwald . Have you seen all those frightening teen melodramas she did? – enough to make you jump in bed and pull the covers over your head. I have to be careful when I channel surf on the weekends to avoid at all costs USA, Lifetime and Oxygen.

Favorite Vampire/Vampire Movie?
I think Kate looked so hot in Underworld. For some reason I liked the second one better. Is that sacrilege?

Favorite Ghost/Haunting Movie? I did like Ghost. Sexy. Muddy. Lesbian weirdness when Patrick "uses" Whoopi's body to "touch" his woman. Now there's a movie with it all.

Favorite Horror Director/Filmmaker? I'm pretty happy Rob Zombie is coming up the ranks as a director. I'm not sure I like him as a director but his last movie deserves some kudos.

Favorite Horror Icon Living Or Dead You'd Like To Interview? Vampira ! Hands down.

Top 5 Movies For A Slumber Party (Massacre)? All the Scary movies. I'm Gonna Get You Sucker, Kentucky Fried Movie and Enter the Dragon.

Monster You'd Most Like To Be? I've played enough vampires in movies so that's not a calling. I got hacked to pieces in the last two horror movies I did " Beverly Hills Massacre" and "Party Patrol". I did two zombie movies back to back including stunts on "Doomed" where I played a whole bunch of zombies. Hmmmmmmmm…. I guess I'd like to be Sauron from "Lord of the Rings" but I wear contacts and that might be difficult if one falls out * Yuk Yuk *. I know! One of my favorite movies of all time is Krull and I'd like to be that monster living in that castle that teleports all over the place!

Scared Of? Producers and directors that don't know what they are doing on set.

Why Do You Love Horror Movies?
I appreciate them not only because I'm a "Scream Queen" and I've participated in my fare share of ultra bad movies, but because it takes a lot of creativity to figure out yet another gory way to mutilate someone. Just the ways they had to think in the Saw movies or the Hostel movies. Genius! We as an audience are becoming so desensitized by all the horror movies we see that it is consistently getting harder for film makers to dazzle the audiences with something new. I like a bit of humor with my horror. It makes for a tastier dish.

How Can YOU Be A FRIGHT GIRL OF THE MONTH?

The rules are simple.

You must be at least 18 years of age.

All you have to do is submit a couple of high resolution images of yourself and fill out the 13 Fright Insights survey.

Feel free to be naughty and gory, but keep it PG-13 (no nudity). We encourage you to be creative, provocative and make it somewhat horror related. Meaning, you can have fun with it by re-creating something from one of your favorite horror movies. OR take some pictures with horror items from your personal collection. OR do something sexy involving special FX make-up. It’s all up to you!

ALSO important - You must download the following two word documents and return them both to us with your submissions.

The first is a questionnaire in which you’ll be asked to answer 13 questions about why you love the horror genre so much. Feel free to elaborate! Your responses will run with the pictures as your horror “stats”.

Word Document 1: fright_girl_questions

The second word document is a release form, granting us permission to post your pictures on our site should you be selected as our FRIGHT GIRL OF THE MONTH. You must sign the release form, scan it and email it back along with the rest of your submissions to frightgirls@iconsoffright.com.

Word Document 2: fright_girl_release

We will inform you if you’ve been picked as our FRIGHT GIRL OF THE MONTH, at which time we would also ask for proof of age through a scan of your state-issued ID.

Go crazy and have fun with it!

FAQ:

Q: Will I be paid for this?

A: No. But the glory and honor is yours almighty Fright Girl forever and ever.

Q: What's in the 13 Questions?

A: Stuff about horror movies you like, nothing personal. And yes, you have to answer them, and we'd love you to take your time with it because your brains smell so good...so...spicy.

Q: Should I use any particular format for the pictures?

A: JPEG, GIF, and PSD are all acceptable.

Q: Any particular resolution?

A:  Images being accepted should be 1200x800 with a preferred resolution of 150. The minimum resolution is 125 and the max is 250. <--Someone told us this, we have no idea what we're really talking about.

Q: So why no nudity?

A: We don't have enough lawyers to even think about including nudity on the site, and also, we think jail is a very bad place and want to stay out of there. But hey--gore? GO FOR IT!

Q: Do I REALLY have to be 18, even if I get parental permission?

A: See above regarding lawyers and jail. Also, when selected, yes, we will require a scan of your state-issued photo ID, no exceptions.

Q: How long will I be on the site?

A: If selected you will be the featured Fright Girl for a specific month. Then, your profile and picture will remain archived on the site. So pretty much you'll live forever on Icons of Fright, immortal, just like the vampires and the zombies.
