Quantcast FIRST LOOK: ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE

FIRST LOOK: ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE (by Beth)

I can't believe this movies been circulating since 2006 and still has not been distributed! Written and Directed by up-and-comers Jacob Forman (W) and Jonathan Levine (D), Mandy Lane was surprisingly well thought out and originally executed.

Mandy Lane apparently wasn’t always hot, at least not as hot as she became Junior year, and every guy in her high school noticed. Once the attention started coming her way the advances never seemed to stop. One day after school a popular boy invited Mandy and her best friend Emmett to a pool party. Emmett, ever being the not-so-popular kid gets picked on all evening, till he decides it’s time to make a fool out of the parties host by daring him to jump off of the roof and into the pool to impress Mandy Lane. Of course it ends badly as the boy misses the pool and breaks his head open on the concrete…and everyone blames Emmett, including Mandy. Nine months later the boys still have it out for Mandy when this time she’s invited to a weekend getaway with the popular kids up at a secluded vacation home.

With no one around to watch over the rambunctious teenagers except for the grounds keeper at the estate, anything can happen. What was supposed to be a “fair-game on Mandy weekend” for the boys (even with their girlfriends around) turns out to be a slaughter fest when the killer decides Mandy belongs to them!

I don't want to throw out any spoilers but I was pleasantly surprised with the twist in this film. Also, some of the deaths were so painful and merciless looking that the crowd watching the screening of the film at Flashback Weekend called out "AHHHH's" and "UGH's!" during some of the bloody scenes. I even covered my mouth at one point!

One of the things that I really liked best about this film was that they didn't shy away from showing you who the killer was almost immediately. That wasn't the biggest mystery, so you saw their face not too far into the killing spree.

Being that the movie was loaded with teenagers, it had many of those typical slasher film cliché’s, however, the director did a fantastic job at making it all seem very new to the horror fan again!

The actress that plays Mandy Lane is Amber Heard. You may have seen her in the film North Country as a young Charlize Theron, or even in Drop Dead Sexy with Crispin Glover. I think that this actress was perfect for this role. She's very pretty and is genuinely appealing, if she were my friend, I know all the guys would be gunnin for her...but obviously in doing so, may result in death.
